Biography
Frances Lloyd was born in Essex but spent a nomadic childhood being carted between RAF stations until mercifully, she was allowed a crack at a proper education in Cheltenham, studying English and Classics. As an adult, she eventually fetched up in the south west of England but by then, had become something of a “wandering minstrel” with no physical or spiritual roots apart from work.Frances has always been a writer. “The job that paid the mortgage was in government communications, writing speeches and other parliamentary material for some well-known politicians.
I’ve also worked as a freelance journalist and photographer but my ambition was always to write murder mysteries.” “I began writing fiction to unwind at the end of a frantic day. There’s nothing like a grisly murder and a glass of wine to iron out the kinks. Then I began entering short story competitions and to my surprise, I won several prizes. From there, I became a regular serial writer for a weekly magazine. But the Holy Grail was always to write a crime novel.” Finally, she gave up the day job, bought an acre of land in the beautiful Highlands of Scotland and built a house around her laptop. She now writes full time. Married three times, “No, I’m not telling where the bodies are buried!” Frances’ hobbies are reading, wine-tasting and dancing “to stop my bum getting big!” Nemesis of the Dead, published by Robert Hale, is her first crime novel.
